Kauai with a toddler was more magical than we could have ever imagined. Kauai completely captured our hearts. From lush landscapes to laid-back vibes, this island felt like a breath of fresh air—especially coming from the hustle and bustle of Oahu. And while traveling with three little kids (including a toddler!) always requires some flexibility, Kauai ended up being one of the easiest, most enjoyable trips we’ve taken as a family of five.
When we were planning, I kept asking myself: What can we actually do in Kauai with a toddler and young kids that won’t leave us exhausted, frustrated, or carrying a toddler up a mountain? I wanted to find beautiful, low-effort spots that were still meaningful—not just basic playgrounds or mall food courts (you know what I mean).
And that’s exactly what this video shares—5 kid-friendly, scenic, totally worth-it stops in Kauai that even our toddler could handle (and enjoy). These were the places that worked really well for our family, where we could take in the beauty of the island without overcomplicating things.

You’ll see:
- The “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” Waimea Canyon—full of jaw-dropping views, accessible lookouts, and the most stunning backdrop for family photos.
- A quick stop at Wailua Falls, which took our breath away (and only 10 minutes—no hike required!).
- The incredible tree tunnel drive that feels like a fairytale in real life.
- A few honest takes—including what didn’t work for us (looking at you, Poipu Beach).
- And an overall vibe that proves you don’t have to sacrifice adventure just because you’re traveling with little ones.
If you’re dreaming about a Kauai family trip or wondering what’s actually doable in Kauai with a toddler in tow, this one’s for you. Our goal was to soak in as much beauty as possible without over-scheduling—and these five spots were exactly that.
We’re so excited to share this peek into our trip and hopefully make your planning just a little easier. Press play below to watch the full video:
